The Fred Jones Business Development Center (BDC) is a State of Oklahoma certified business incubator. The BDC was developed to contribute to local economic vitality by providing entrepreneurs access to critical business support during the crucial period in their company's development. Business incubation programs speed up the successful growth of entrepreneurial companies through an arrangement of business support tools and services. The BDC contributes to the local economy through the creation of new businesses and new jobs. The BDC's product includes a wide variety of on-site managerial, administrative, and other support services as well as inexpensive lease space for offices, manufacturing, or distribution activities. The BDC assists our clients in accessing capital by preparing them for the capital raising process and directing them to potential sources of financing. Flexible, creative and cost effective services are offered as a cafeteria-type plan where the client can choose the services required to help their business grow to the next level. The BDC is a for-profit venture with the goal of promoting economic development in Oklahoma. The BDC intends to reach this goal by a) providing vital business services to Oklahoma entrepreneurs and b) assisting businesses in their search for capital through assistance in preparing business plans and fundraising presentations and by directing them to potential sources of financing. The BDC will assist clients by deferring or reducing cash expenses, for example: rent, accounting, etc. in exchange for involvement in the future success of the business through royalties and/or equity participation. The BDC differs from most other incubators in the state because it is a for-profit incubator. The BDC's success depends on the success of our clients. We have time, money, and energy invested in each of our clients. Therefore, the BDC has a vested interest in seeing each client succeed. The BDC is a symbol of physical re-development in the downtown Oklahoma City area. Our goal is for the BDC to be a community meeting place and a place of encouragement and help for entrepreneurs. Oklahoma economic development is progressing according to the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce. Financial World magazine ranks Oklahoma the second-lowest cost-of-doing business state. Lower costs, a favorable business climate, and an overall positive quality of life are just some of the reasons for this ranking. Due to these and other factors, Oklahoma was recently ranked 4th for business relocation. The BDC intends to be a part of the renaissance of Oklahoma City. |
